Quickie for the ITBYC Gurus... has anyone lost their CD key/serial number?? How hard or easy is it to get support from Nadeo if this is the case?

Okay, I'll admit - I've discovered I've lost mine... well, if I haven't lost it, I've put it in a very, very safe place that I can't remember where the hell it is!

Also, has anyone's CD become un-readable? Seems to me to be a big flaw with the copy protection, especially for lazy sods like me who tend not to take extreme care when handling CDs.

I better stop worrying now.

The CD Key should be no problem at all, as long as you have a valid receipt from your vendor e.a. or the vendor has a record of your sale. AFAIK no issue with support there.

Loss of serial nr, aka online registration nr. Nadao can communicate to the e-mail adress you gave at registration. AFAIK no issues with support there either as long as you kept your account (e-mail adress) up to date.

If you took a piece of sandpaper to grind your cd down? Can't say.................
I have one CD that looks horibble and I wouldn't try to do a (re)install from it. But it still gives a valid key...

If only the surface is scratched, you should be able to restore readability by lapping the surface. If the reflecting layer, is damaged obviously some or any data on the cd cannot be extracted anymore.

I haven't heared from any possibility to make a backup/ security copy of the cd to put in your safe...

I know friends that lost on-line account and simply Nadeo replay the data (U must have the serial key for multiplayer).
Also a friend that loss the install code have this from Nadeo.

Btw now the game is possible to buy at 19,99 euro.... I think there is not a problem ( M1 say that In Moscow (Russia) game is sold under the following price:
In a CD box (packing) - 12 $
Without a box - 4 $
The dealer - company New Disk.

Speaking with a sailing friend at the club last weekend, he picked up a copy for $30 (Australian). I might try searching, just in case.

Of course, I've now had the game for a year, and I bought it when I was working away so no knowing where the docket is now (probably has the CD key with it). It was just before Easter last year, since I joined up here around then too.

Not likely to try taking to the CD with some wet'n'dry either :;): :p

One thing, don't ask Nadeo for a new key. You have to go to whoever you bought the game from (Digital Jesters etc.) I know that DJ has been very prompt replacing lost keys.

Also, has anyone's CD become un-readable?

Not to me personaly, but I've heard of it happening to others. Also, the CD doesn't have to be unreadable for the copy protection to fail so take good care of it!

The online keys are unique, but the CD key is not... There is one key for the french version and one for the english version.

Ahh - I have sniffed around on, err, "questionable" sites/programs for a CD crack, and also discovered postings for the CD serial key.

There "are" programs which claim to be the no-CD crack but I'm not game to download them without all of my original info to save me if all f... err, stuffs up.

Locally, I purchased through Electronic Boutique Games... as mentioned, in another state of the country and about a year ago. Our city store in Brisbane no longer has it in stock and won't be re-stocking unless requested to get it in! Though I have heard of it being $30AU at that store as well, so if all fails I buy a new copy :;): :cool: :beer:

Quick update -

supposed no CD cracks don't work (unless there was something I missed);

in trying to make a backup of my increasingly battered CD, found that the particular version of Clone CD I have won't get past the Starforce protection;

and I finally found my VSK3 CD envelope that has the Starforce code and Nadeo code!!!! (was actually protecting the installation CD for Nokia PC Suite) I knew it was in a safe place, and worst thing was I'd probably gone past it several time in my original searches! :angry:

Anyone tired to create a backup copy of VSK just incase the orginial becomes unreadable or lost?

I tried & couldn't get it to work. Issue was the Protect System.

I also put my details in a "safe" place, and couldn't find them. I managed to get a new CD Key from Nadeo/DJ and then found that I still had the game installed on my laptop. So I print screened the Online Details and sent those off and got hold of my Online Key too :beer:
