Camera Modes

Ask the ITBYC panel

I have a big problem for 1 week now. The camera modes f1+f2+f8+f9 aren't working. I haven't changed any settings and everything is configured right...

Normally I toggle camera views until I get to the one I want, using 0.

Double check the key setting in the game and make sure that those key bindings haven't been changed. Also, are you running any other software that might be intercepting these keystrokes (voice chat, screen grabber etc.) The thing is to figure out what you did a week ago to cause the keys to stop working.

I have looked it up again, but I am not using any background programm and all is configured well. But you had a really good idea. I will open my logger and will look up if I changed anything on my computer!

One other thing is to try mapping those views to different (unused) keys, like A S D F (or something) and see if the camera angles work then. Also, don't forget that you can swivel the camera angle by holding down the right mouse button and "dragging" the view around. If you have a mouse wheel you can use that to zoom in and out. This is my preferred method of "looking" around.

I tried to use different key, there's the same problem! Of course the 2nd possibility is to use the mouse, but it's not perfect...

Well... you've stumped me. Have you applied any modifications to the game? For example, there are several mods to alter the instrument displays, one that affects the sky/clouds, etc. It sounds like something corrupted one of the config files, but I would think VSK would just crash in that case...

You have applied the latest patch right? When you start the VSK "launcher" it should say "VirtualSkipper3 1.2.2".

Otherwise you may have to try reinstalling VSK.

Sometimes i really have to laugh :). I tried everything what you think would help to solve the problem. Yes it's the newest version and i already tried to reinstall...

I solved the problem now. I de-installed- then I kicked out folder on folder, by the time I got it working. The problem was my profile. When my computer shut down once while playing, the profile got hurt, so it didn't work. When I compared it with a working one, I saw the difference, I changed it and it worked again. Quite complicated, but easier than to use the support :)

Glad to hear you got it working. Just for future reference, which .gbx file was that was corrupt? And can you recreate/solve the problem simply by replacing the one file?

the file is under vsk folder/game date/profiles/name.gbx

It's not that easy as it seems. I simply saved all files, then I deleted them. After the new-install I copied file by file into the vsk-folder. After copying this profile, the camera was not working again...Then I simply created a new account...and kicked the old one out...

Thanks for the info, I'll (try to) keep this in mind for "the next time"!

Happy sailing.
