Apparent wind - instead of true wind

I would like the wind indicator to refer to apparent wind instead of true wind. In the present version of vsk we are able to sail perpendicular to the true wind (90deg) with a spinnaker up. That's not good simulation...

In addition, I would like a true wind indicator, which is not relative to the boat direction, but to the orientation of our map (should be next to map/radar).

The true windindicator should then represent the wind relative to my my yacht's position of course.
One thing I like about VSK, it is not sully instrumentalized, with graphs of windspeed, direction over time, like Sail 2000 has. Thus, you are really sailing and not just watching instruments. I am not so sure one can not asil at 90 degrees under chute, but not in gusty winds of course, rather in lighter ones. When its blowing and you try to do this, you may spill all the :beer: :beer: :beer:, and that would be a pitty, wouldn't it?

No windindicator, no speedometer.
Instead ripples in the water, flexible sailcloth. Different chutes, I want a code 0, reefing possibilities. And finaly an Ocean stretch of water, with now and then over or under conditions where breaking things is possible. (okay i could be time compressed)

What about telltales in the jib and after leech of the main.
Generally I think that one should keep the instrument interface as simple as possible.
With regards to realism I would perhaps give priority to better tuning of wind shaddow effects.
But that like sail-shifts, pluss hull and rig damage effects perhaps will be better discussed under other topics :glasses:.

Harald, I can recall racing with the kite with an apparent wind angle of around 50 degrees. And we were going better than other boats around us with genoas... true wind angle was certainly 90 or lower
