Mac broke Rule 11 at about t=9min of the replay. Mac did the 360 but protested me.

My Question, in this case i thought i cant luff more without pen for Euphoria. Maybe a few seconds before i could turn inside Euphoria but I was not sure to have enough place.

merci Shura. I tried to make the video with the camera following the boat ... pffff ... much work . I surrendered .
About the incident. Being under 11 (rule 17 was off), Mac had to keep clear, in other words, Mac must increase the distance to my boat even if I dont luff. He did the contrary when I sailed a little bit above close-hailed and until an instant when I had to bear (a little more) to not hit. To be sure, just compare the relative courses we had with the pair Eupho/Nikgre.

I agree that Jiel has to give Mac room to put his bow to leeward of euphoria. Maybe he use a little too much room, but it's not a race changer. In any case, Jiel did not break any rule, as he did not forced contact (thank you), so Red won the race. I remove the protest tag.
But Oliver, in this situation, it's a better tactic to not volunteer to take a penalty, and instead test the situation in the protest room. By taking a pen turn, blue has lost the race, being 2 5 6 with a big gap from boat 4 to 5... I was 2 and leeward to Nik, so I could force him to tack, which would have made us 1 2 or 1 3.

I accept the decision. I take note of the possibility of not making the penalty in case of doubt and instead test the situation in the protest room Best regards Olivier

TY Harald. TY Mac to have trusted me in doing 360 on the water. I agree also to not do 360 if you have a doubt. Some skippers are very fast to protest when some others, unfortunatly, are fast to do 360 without agreing the protest. I must add that my protest was not abusive. I hesitated to prostest at the mark but when later, I had to bear away a little, I protested being sure the rule was broken. In my opinion, it is clear that the video is for me : Mac, you took more room than necessary. If you had sailed closer to the mark like NIKgre did, it would have been no risk to hit the Harald boat stern. JL
