VSK3 Demo frame rates

Hi,
Does anybody have frame rate issues with VSK3 Demo? (the full version is not available here in NZ yet) It seems to start OK, then the frame rate drops to the point that it takes 5-6 minutes to complete less than a minute of sailing. I have tried minimum graphics settings, turning off all background tasks etc. The PO goes up to 100% within seconds of starting a race. My system is:
P4 2.0 gig
512 mb RAM
Ti4400 graphics (latest NVidia drivers)

OK, fixed it by turning the sound off. More investigating.......
