Sorry to get you out of bed early, but I think we will not make it by 4 PM EST (8 AM Sydney time). Mark and I are both tied up until 10 AM Sydney time. We can try then... I bet we can get a third no trouble.

If I get home sooner and you see me on MSN (jfallon@tutor.com) give me a shout. I will do the same...

If it doesn't work out today, we will try after the holiday.

I'm usually pretty laid back (not one to complain a lot). But I dragged myself out of bed at 7.30 on a Saturday morning only to be told that the challenge had been put back to 10am.
10am came and went as did 10.30am. But that's okay because not much happening in my life that putting it on hold is much of a problem. I'm more concerned for the integrity of the competition. Having just perused the competion details/rules I noticed there is no consequences for a 'no show'. For the future of the competition I believe that this should be rectified. Having just perused the competion details/rules I noticed there is no consequences for a 'no show'. For the future of the competition I believe that this should be rectified.

As Chris wrote in another thread, there is an article in the rules which can be used for this purpose:

4.3.6
A team that is definitly responsible for a failure of performing an accepted challenge, drop 2 positions on the ladder. The other team move up as if it scored a win.

So if you claim a ladder victory by this rule, it's perfectly fair as you had to get up early to do the races. You can also choose to re-schedule. Up to you.

I feel very badly that we missed the challenge and take full responsibility. If that means forfeiting, so be it. However, declaring the time 1 dya ahead of time on a holiday weekend put our team in a tough spot.

If you choose a new time and give us 4-5 days warning we will be there or accept the forfeit.

If ITBYC USA never confirmed that this time was ok for them, then it can not be defined as a no-show. What was the deal exactly?

Team USA would like to challenge Australia Green to a match. Courses and time to be decided by you.

Team USA is most likely to be available on Friday or Saturday evenings (corresponding to Saturday or Sunday morning in Australia). Please let us know if there are other times good for your team.

Ok, that clarifies it. USA can't be blaimed for not being there as no confirmation was given, and they initially only said that friday/saturday nights generally was most likely the best solution for a race time.

If you guys can't make it Fri night or Sat night what happens then? Does the challenge just roll on till it's raced or is there a deadline? The Sailing Instructions mention deadlines for the challenged team but not for the challenger.

Just trying to get this process sorted out in my tired head.

A challenge that is a result of a challenge request should be completed within 1 month.
